Prep time: 20 minutes , Cook time: 40 minutes , Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 ½ tsp crushed garlic
- ½ tsp salt
- Juice from 1 lemon
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- 1 ½ tsp ground cumin
- 2 tbsp ground coriander
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 2 tsp fish masala powder
- Fish
- 2 tbsp tomatoes, blended
- 1 medium onion, diced
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients together except the fish, tomatoes and onion, to form a marinade.
- Chop the fish into 5-10cm chunks and marinate for at least four hours and preferably overnight.
- Scrape the marinade off the fish and set aside. Then shallow fry each piece of fish individually.*
- Once all the fish has been fried, braise the diced onions in a saucepan. Once the onions are soft, add the marinade and tomatoes.
- Once the mixture turns a deep brown, add the fried fish pieces and serve with roti.
Tips
- * The oil will spill a lot so use a deep frying pan. The fish will also make the kitchen smell so make sure you have the fan on when frying.
